Our story

A foundation for a bright future.

Kindred is a warm, nurturing space where children feel seen, supported and inspired to grow.

We believe early childhood is a time of wonder, connection and discovery. Our approach blends play, purpose and attention to help every child grow with confidence and joy.

Rooms are calm, bright and unhurried. Children move at their own pace, with familiar faces around them and space to explore, rest and come back to what interests them.

Our values

What we hold to.

Nurture

We create a safe, loving environment where children feel secure enough to explore.

Grow

We support each child's unique journey, at their own pace and in their own time.

Connect

We build strong relationships with children, families and our neighbourhood.

Belong

We foster a sense of belonging where every child is valued and included.

How we teach

How the rooms work.

We are play-based and child-led. The structure is in the room and the routine, not in a lesson plan.

01

The room teaches

Materials sit at child height, in view, in the same place every day. Children pick up what interests them without having to ask.

02

We follow the interest

Teachers notice what a group keeps coming back to and build on it. A single interest can carry a project for weeks.

03

The day is predictable

The same rhythm, the same faces, the same order every day. Children who know what comes next settle faster and play longer.

We do not run a trademarked method. Much of this will be familiar if you have toured centres that describe themselves as Reggio-inspired or Montessori-inspired.

Our rooms

Our rooms, by age.

3–12 months

The Nest

Floor time, feeding on your child's own schedule, and a calm room built around sleep and comfort.

1–2 years

The Grove

Walking, climbing, first words. Sensory play, music, and a great deal of water on the floor.

2–3 years

The Meadow

Pretend play, early friendships, and the beginnings of sharing a space with other people.

3 years – pre-K

The Workshop

Projects that run for weeks. Letters, numbers and clay, in whatever order the class takes them.

A day here

A typical day.

7:30
Doors open. Slow arrivals, breakfast for anyone who wants it.
9:00
Morning circle, then open play across the room's stations.
11:00
Outside — a walk to the park in the stroller train.
12:30
Lunch together at the low tables, then nap and quiet time.
3:30
Snack, project time, and unhurried pickup through to six.

Our locations

Two doors, one school.

Both sites share the same rooms, the same approach and the same room names. A family moving across Brooklyn moves from the Meadow to the Meadow.

Questions

What parents ask first.

What does it cost?

Tuition is billed monthly and covers meals, snacks and all materials. Rates for the 2027 opening will be published before enrolment opens; families on the waitlist hear first.

Do you offer part-time schedules?

Yes. Alongside five-day enrolment we offer three-day schedules, subject to availability in each room. Part-time places are limited and fill first.

What are the hours, and is there early drop-off?

Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 6:00pm. Early drop-off from 7:00am is available as an add-on for families catching the ferry.

What happens at meals?

Lunch and two snacks are delivered daily by our food provider and prepped on site. We are a nut-free building and accommodate allergies and dietary requirements. Menus are shared with families each week.

Does my child need to be potty trained?

No. We work alongside families on toilet learning when a child is ready, and children in every room are welcome in nappies.

What is the sick policy?

Children stay home with a fever, vomiting or anything contagious, and may return 24 hours after symptoms resolve without medication. Full details are in the family handbook, which we share before enrolment.

How do you handle security and pickup?

The entrance is locked and staffed during opening hours. Only adults you have named in writing may collect your child, and photo ID is checked until we know them.

How will I know how my child's day went?

Daily notes and photos come through the parent app, plus a short conversation at pickup. Families also get scheduled check-ins through the year.

Are you licensed?

The centre will operate under a New York State OCFS permit. The permit and inspection history will be posted at reception and available on request.

Are siblings given priority?

Yes. Siblings of enrolled children are placed ahead of the general waitlist, and a sibling discount applies from the second child.

Now taking names

Join the waitlist.

Greenpoint opens in March 2027 and Park Slope follows. Families on the waitlist are placed first, hear rates before anyone else, and are invited to walk the space once it is safe to do so.

Founding families

  • Priority placement by room, in the order families join
  • First look at rates, ahead of general enrolment
  • First invitations to walk the space before opening
  • Sibling priority for any future child
